No More Waiting in Lines: IDDEEA and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration Enable Electronic Tax Filing for Citizens of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić, Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), Prof. Dr. Almir Badnjević, and Deputy Director of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration, Mr. Slobodan Vukoja, presented today, at a press conference, a new option for electronic submission of tax returns using the Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) issued by IDDEEA.

Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić expressed his support for connecting IDDEEA’s digital infrastructure with the electronic system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration, emphasizing the importance of concrete digital services that enable citizens to fulfil their obligations towards public institutions more simply, quickly, and without unnecessary visits to service counters.

As of 1 October 2026, citizens of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina who have an activated IDDEEA QES can use it within the information system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration to submit tax returns electronically, without the need to visit the Tax Administration’s offices.

Director of IDDEEA, Prof. Dr. Almir Badnjević, emphasized that this is a concrete example of how the infrastructure established by IDDEEA is being put to direct use in citizens’ everyday lives.

“IDDEEA has provided citizens with a free Qualified Electronic Signature, and by integrating it with the system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration, we are creating the conditions for citizens to use this infrastructure for concrete public services. The goal of digitalization is not merely to make a service available online, but to enable citizens to complete the entire procedure electronically, securely, and without additional costs for a Qualified Electronic Signature,” said Badnjević.

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration pointed out that, since the beginning of 2026, citizens have already been able to submit tax returns electronically using qualified electronic certificates issued by other authorized trust service providers, and that, as of today, this option is being extended to users of the QES issued by IDDEEA.

Citizens can thus submit several types of tax returns electronically, including returns related to income tax, property tax, contributions, and the Unified System.

For citizens, this service means fewer visits to public institutions, less waiting, and less paperwork, with the additional benefit that the IDDEEA Qualified Electronic Signature is issued to citizens free of charge.

By connecting IDDEEA’s infrastructure with the information system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tax Administration, another concrete step has been made towards more accessible and efficient digital public services.
