A driving licence is a document which states that a person may operate a vehicle of a certain category or type. A driving licence is issued in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Roads Traffic Safety Basis in BiH („Official Gazette BiH“No.6/06).

Issuance, extension of validity and replacement of the driving licence is carried out by the Cantonal Ministries of Interior in FBiH, Ministry of Interior in the Republika Srpska and Public Register in Brčko District, according to the place of residence of the driver. These authorities are also responsible for keeping records of drivers.
