PKI digital signature system compliant with the eIDAS Regulation

The eIDAS (Electronic IDentification Authentication and Trust Services) Regulation, officially known as Regulation No. 910/2014 of the European Union, establishes a legal foundation for electronic identification in member states inside the EU internal market.

The purpose of the eIDAS Regulation is to strengthen the trust of individuals, legal entities, and public bodies in the digital world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the conditions for registration in the register of certifiers is to provide an appropriate confirmation of compliance of the process and technology of the public key infrastructure with the eIDAS Regulation.

The Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been registered in the register of Certificate Authorities maintained by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina since April 15, 2022 under serial number 3.

The Agency’s certification policy as a registered Certificate Authority is publicly available, as well as root and signing certificates.

On September 30, 2023, the Agency completed all processes of recertification of the services of a qualified Certificate Authority according to eIDAS Regulation and completed the process of public procurement of liability insurance services for damages related to qualified digital certificates. A confirmation of the successfully completed recertification process of the Agency as a trust service provider in compliance with the eIDAS Regulation is also available here.
