Meeting between IDDEEA and UNDP: Project eDataExchange for facilitated data exchange

The meeting between the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) marked an important step towards the improvement of electronic data exchange in our country. With these activities, the Agency contributes to achieving EU SDG 6, which refers to data exchange and interoperability.

Led by the director, Mr. Almir Badnjević, IDDEEA presented a project called eDataExchange, which aims to simplify electronic data exchange for citizens and legal entities at the website of the Agency. This project, designed to support the use of electronic signatures and simplify the exchange of data for the public and the business community, represents a step forward towards the renewal of public administration while also contributing to the achievement of some of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), specifically SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), by improving IT infrastructure and enabling innovation in the digital space. It further supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by strengthening institutions through transparent data exchange and citizen support.

During the meeting, UNDP official Narine Sahakyan, acting resident representative of UNDP to Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasised the significance of the project and UNDP’s assistance in the digital transformation of public administration in our country. It was emphasised that this form of cooperation would be an enormous challenge but also an opportunity for UNDP to provide support within their competence.

The eDataExchange project will not only enable basic data exchange capabilities for permanent access, but will also facilitate data exchange compliant with the Law on Freedom of Access to Information. The services delivered through this project will be publicly available on the website of the Agency, further enhancing the openness and effectiveness of public administration and laying the groundwork for Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet the objectives outlined in the EU institutional framework.

IDDEEA and UNDP invite all relevant actors, both from the public and private sectors, to support this project and contribute to the further strengthening of electronic data exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
