U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt invited the director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange (IDDEEA), Mr. Almir Badnjević, to a meeting to exchange experiences and information on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conversation focused on critical subjects such as political events, economic concerns, the need for institutional reforms, and the need to improve cooperation with the U.S. Special attention was given to the role of the U.S. in providing continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina through strengthening democratic institutions, promoting economic development, and maintaining the country’s stability through both diplomatic and financial assistance.
During the meeting, the importance of the Agency in strengthening the institutional capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina was emphasised, especially in the context of improving the system for identification documents and data exchange. Director Badnjević gave an overview of the latest advancements that IDDEEA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, will enable for U.S. citizens pertaining to electronic services that use qualified electronic signatures.
Furthermore, the discussion focused on how IDDEEA might contribute to the digitalisation of administrative processes, which is critical for the efficiency and transparency of institutional operations. The conversation underlined Bosnia and Herzegovina’s substantial difficulties as well as significant prospects for growth with continuing strategic support from the U.S.
The director thanked Congressman Aderholt for the invitation to the meeting and expressed readiness for continued cooperation, which will contribute to further strengthening of the relationship between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
