IDDEEA Representatives Took Part in Study Visit to Italian Data Protection Authority in Rome

A delegation from the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), led by Director Almir Badnjević, participated in a study visit to the Italian Data Protection Authority—Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, held in Rome from June 9 to 12, 2025. The visit was part of an ongoing twinning project focused on strengthening cross-border collaboration in the field of data protection.

Also part of the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were representatives from the Personal Data Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reinforcing institutional cooperation aimed at enhancing the country’s legal and operational frameworks for data privacy.

The intensive four-day programme provided IDDEEA officials with valuable insights into the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), modern approaches to privacy governance, and case studies based on the Italian authority’s regulatory experience.

A series of specialized seminars and workshops gave participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of EU data protection legislation. Participants also explored technical and organizational measures for data protection and were introduced to the latest European trends in privacy and cybersecurity.

The study visit marks a notable step forward in strengthening IDDEEA’s institutional capacity and aligning Bosnia and Herzegovina’s data protection standards with European norms. The knowledge and experience gained during the visit will be directly applied in the agency’s operations, contributing to better compliance, improved safeguards, and greater public trust in the protection of personal data across the country.
