IDDEEA BiH Participated in the EU4admin Conference in Neum

The Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BiH) participated on May 14–15, 2025, in a conference held in Neum as part of the project “EU for Increasing the Use of Administrative Data Sources in the Production of Official Statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, funded by the European Union with a total value of €1,949,440.

As part of the conference programme, a representative of IDDEEA BiH was a panellist in a session titled “Sharing Data for Common Values – Best Practices in Integrating Administrative Sources”, where she presented the key responsibilities of the Agency and its strategic goals focused on:

  • Digital transformation of public administration,
  • Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs),
  • Enhancing the electronic data exchange system,
  • Using qualified electronic signatures in data exchange between institutions.

The capabilities and content of the IDDEEA BiH Open Data Portal (ODP) were also showcased as a key instrument for enhancing administrative data reuse, accessibility, and transparency, in line with the conference topic and project goals.

Key Role of IDDEEA BiH in the EU4admin Project

Within the EU4admin project, IDDEEA BiH has been recognised as one of the most important administrative data sources in the field of population statistics. This affirms the Agency’s vital role in providing accurate, reliable, and up-to-date data that can be used for official statistics.

As the project is currently in the phase of mapping participants and analysing administrative sources, further concrete collaboration with IDDEEA BiH has been announced for the upcoming phases. The Agency was repeatedly highlighted by project beneficiaries and other conference participants as a positive example of successful institutional cooperation in administrative data exchange.

Conference Participants

The conference brought together a large number of domestic and international participants, including:

  • Project beneficiaries: Agency for Statistics of BiH, Federal Institute for Statistics, and Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics, international experts from Italy, Portugal, Malta, Slovenia, and Norway,
  • Numerous domestic institutions recognised as key data sources or users, including:
  • High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH,
  • BiH Indirect Taxation Authority,
  • Financial Intelligence Agency of BiH (FIA),
  • BiH Directorate for Economic Planning,
  • Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH,
  • Federal Institute for Development Programming,
  • Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, etc.

About the EU4ADMIN Project

The EU4admin project, valued at €1,949,440, is funded by the European Union and implemented by GOPA Worldwide Consultants, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia. Its goal is to improve the use of administrative data sources in official statistics in BiH through the following phases:

  • Defining statistical areas,
  • Mapping and identifying institutions,
  • Analyzing existing sources,
  • Preparing cooperation agreements,
  • Developing data usage methodologies,
  • Establishing exchange mechanisms,
  • Protecting confidential data,
  • Developing IT solutions and pilot testing,
  • Creating statistical indicators,
  • Providing training and expert support.

Dijana Joldžić Ogrešević, Head of the Bihać Regional Centre, represented the Agency at the conference. Through its participation, IDDEEA BiH once again reaffirmed its commitment to the digital modernisation of public administration, transparency in operations, and active contribution to strengthening the statistical system of BiH in line with European standards.
