SARAJEVO, November 29, 2024 – Today, the first applications for completely online loans in Bosnia and Herzegovina were submitted in Sarajevo, where Edin Forto, the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, and Almir Badnjević, the Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), confirmed their applications with electronic signatures in the presence of the media.
During the press conference, Edin Forto, Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Almir Badnjević, Director of IDDEEA, and Amina Mahmutović, Chairwoman of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank d.d., commented on the progress Bosnia and Herzegovina made today in its digitalization journey.
“Today is a significant day for the digital transformation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The realization of the first completely online loan is a major step forward in our efforts to modernize and improve the financial sector, providing citizens with easier access to services. Digitalization is not only a matter of technology, but also of a better life for our citizens, as it allows them to carry out important tasks from the comfort of their own homes. I am proud that Bosnia and Herzegovina now has the capacity to offer such innovative services, and this step confirms our commitment to accelerating the digital agenda, which is essential for the economic future of the country,” said Edin Forto, Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH.
UniCredit Bank d.d. is the first bank in the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce a completely online process for securing personal loans, enabling clients to complete the loan process without visiting a branch office or physically signing documents. This innovative service is available to all clients with a qualified electronic signature and can easily be accessed through the UniCredit Bank website.
“This is a significant and very important step forward for the digital transformation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where, starting today, a new electronic service integrated with IDDEEA solutions is in operation, enabling the online loan approval process for individuals. The most important element of this process is the qualified electronic signature, which allows clients to submit loan requests securely and quickly, without the need for physical presence.

As previously announced, all citizens of BiH can obtain their qualified electronic signature for free at one of the registration offices of IDDEEA CA in Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Mostar, Bihać, and Bijeljina, thus opening the door not only to such services but also to many other digital services in development. IDDEEA continues to provide innovative solutions that improve the daily lives of our citizens,” said Almir Badnjević, Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA).
Customers whose regular income is deposited into UniCredit Bank can now complete the entire loan application procedure and electronically sign documents that previously needed a physical visit to a branch office from the convenience of their homes. Apart from the advantages of online banking, this procedure has made the service free from loan processing fees, which further increases its popularity with consumers.
Amina Mahmutović, Chairwoman of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank d.d., stated: “It is our duty, as a leading financial institution in the market, to set an example of good practice and the implementation of smart and digital solutions. We are pleased to begin a new chapter for the financial market of Bosnia and Herzegovina today, and I am confident that such services will further accelerate and enhance business operations across all sectors of our economy, which is in all our interest.”
