During his stay in the United States, Director Badnjević took part in an international security forum attended by NATO representatives, members of the U.S. Congress, representatives of global security institutions, as well as leading experts in cybersecurity and digital sovereignty. A total of 13 members of the U.S. Congress participated in the forum, and its conclusions will be submitted to the U.S. administration, including the office of Senator Marco Rubio, as well as to the governments of several countries worldwide.

On this occasion, Director Badnjević presented the role of Bosnia and Herzegovina and IDDEEA in protecting citizens’ digital identity, emphasizing that digital identification systems and data management have become a key element of national security and institutional stability for every country.

As part of the visit to Washington, strategic meetings were also held at the Atlantic Council, one of the world’s leading organizations for international relations and security policy. Discussions focused on the further development of digital infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the construction of modern data centers, strengthening cybersecurity, and potential investments by U.S. technology companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Particular interest was expressed by U.S. companies in investing in digital infrastructure, including data center construction projects and the development of advanced digital services, with some companies having already conducted initial visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Working meetings were also held at the U.S. Department of State, focusing on the role of digital identity and cyber protection in the context of upcoming electoral processes and strengthening institutional security. Discussions covered the activities of IDDEEA BiH, as well as existing projects and the continued support of the U.S. administration for the development of secure digital identities and data protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was confirmed that cooperation between IDDEEA and U.S. institutions continues through concrete technical and institutional support projects.

During his stay in the United States, Director Badnjević also held working meetings with international cybersecurity experts and participants in United Nations programs. Together with other UN Cyber Fellows from the United Nations in New York, a series of joint activities and international events were agreed upon, to be implemented throughout 2026 with the aim of strengthening global cooperation in the field of digital identity and cybersecurity.

As a result of the meetings held and activities presented, the Director of IDDEEA BiH, Prof. Dr. Almir Badnjević, was officially invited to visit the United States again in April to continue strategic discussions, institutional cooperation, and the concretization of investment and technological projects involving Bosnia and Herzegovina.
